Technical Assistance
GSI can bring skilled supervisors, specialized materials and specialty equipment to the job site to assist a general contractor in the execution of projects involving soil mixing, reactive barriers, slurry walls, bio polymer drains, and other forms of geotechnical construction.

Onsite Supervision / Quality Control
The successful execution of projects can often depend on the quality and experience of the managers involved. Geo-Solutions offers both contractors and owners the unique opportunity to bring experienced managers into the project team on an as-needed basis. Most of our technical assistance assignments have been for contractors that were executing technically challenging projects. Owners employ us for the technically-based, yet construction savvy service we can provide. We often act as technical project manager, providing support to the management team.
In addition to overall management, we often provide skilled site supervisors. Our supervisors are highly trained and experienced in training a contractor’s staff. General contractors are often very interested in the technical assistance model because it allows them to utilize their own labor and equipment to complete the project. Let our supervisors show you how to complete the work!
In addition to supervision, we are often asked to send quality control technicians and staff to monitor the quality aspects of the construction. Again, it’s GSI’s staff experience that makes this such an attractive service. Our principals and staff have the unique ability to deal with the inevitable changes and other problems that creep up on underground work. We can provide all the necessary on-site personnel, field equipment, and supervision of off-site quality control carried out in independent laboratories. We can develop or help you to develop quality control programs specifically designed for the specialty geotechnical construction technique that you’re applying on your project. Typical tests for grout/slurry testing include viscosity, density, pH, temperature. In addition to monitoring the grout / slurry properties, we also monitor the density, permeability, and strength of the soil-grout/slurry matrix. Simple and economical field tests are typically more useful than highly complex tests, but each project has its own requirements and demands. We generally recommend performing all of the more valuable and practical tests on site to minimize delays in shipping to and receiving test results from offsite laboratories.
Specialty Construction Equipment
GSI has a fleet of pumping, soil mixing, and deep excavating equipment that is essential for succesful geotechnical construction projects. We only bring the equipment that is requested and reuired for a succesful project. We also have special instruments that can monitor equipment or material performance in real time. Many of these instruments are computer based and state-of-the-art. These monitoring capabilities make our equipment stand out from the competition.
Specialty Materials
GSI has access to a variety of specialty materials. In addition to access to these materials, GSI’s personnel are intimately familiar with their uses, advantages, and disadvantages. This familiarity is critical in the event of unforeseen issues or site problems. Call to discuss how our specialty materials can help you solve your soil and groundwater problems.
How We Help You
Geo-Solutions works with our general contractors from the bid process through submittals through construction to ensure the project is a financial as well as a technical success. In the bid stage we provide detailed lists of the equipment and manpower required for construction. We also provide our best estimate of production rates, likely pitfalls, and important safety considerations. We generally know what equipment will do the work at the minimum cost with the greatest productivity. Our years of experience with groundwater collection, permeable reactive barriers, and other forms of specialty construction allow us to accurately estimate or calculate material usage. In the field, our staff can be relied upon to provide the direction, supervision, and guidance needed to make the project a success. Our people are familiar with instructing construction workers on building slurry cut off walls, reactive barriers, and Bio-Polymer drains in addition to dealing with supervising engineers and hands-on owners. When difficulties arise, our staff generally knows the swiftest and most economical solution, and we freely communicate with all parties.
