Steven R. Day has over 25 years of engineering and construction experience, most of which involves trenching and solving soil and groundwater problems. Steve brings a unique combination of geotechnical expertise and practical experience to his client's service at Geo-Solutions.

A History of Innovation

Some of the innovative projects completed under Steve Day's direction included first of a kind projects for In Situ Soil Mixing for the treatment of contaminated soil, Bio-Polymer slurry drainage trenches, attapulgite slurry walls, and permeable reactive barriers installed with bio-polymer slurry. He has also participated in a number of research studies for the implementation of geotechnical solutions on special projects including funded research for US EPA, US DOE, US DOD, EPRI, and a number of private industry and consulting clients. Steve was also involved in the development of the continuous-mix cement-bentonite grout plant and the development of modern methods for reactive barrier wall construction.

Authoring Papers

Steve Day is well known for his expertise in laboratory testing of slurries, grouts and soil mixtures. He has published papers on the testing of slurry wall mixtures for compatibility and permeability with hazardous wastes. To date, Steve has published more than two-dozen papers in the engineering literature. Steve has been at the forefront of the development of bio-polymer slurries for the installation of reactive barriers. He has participated and served in a lead role on a significant number of pilot-scale projects. Steve Day’s Background

Steve's practical experience comes from a lifetime of experience in the construction industry. He grew up in a family excavating and utility business where he worked as a laborer, operator, and foreman. Later, he worked for Peter Kiewit and Sons while attending college and received a Peter Kiewit Scholarship. He earned an advanced degree in geotechnical engineering at the University of Texas where he participated in EPA sponsored research on the field permeability testing of clay liners. Steve spent fourteen years working for nationally known geotechnical specialty companies where he served in key management positions. Steve's goal on every project is to make sure there is a solid connection between engineering and construction to ensure high quality applications at an affordable cost. Geo-Solutions is able to provide these services on both large and small projects across the country and overseas.
