Because of our extensive experience with construction methods, particularly specialty technologies related to soil and groundwater like soil mix barriers, Geo-Solutions has frequently been asked to participate on contractor bid teams in a support role. Typically, we work with one contractor on an exclusive and confidential basis, providing a detailed cost estimate, work plans and a construction schedule. Contractors that have taken advantage of this service have in some cases chosen to self-perform the work and, in others, used the information provided to help them to negotiate on a knowledgeable basis with potential specialty subcontractors.

We also provide detailed cost estimates for in engineers and in owners as a part of feasibility studies and the development of project budgets. We have our own proprietary software that has been developed specially for estimating geotechnical construction costs on projects involving technologies such as slurry walls, soil mix barriers, and slurry biopolymer trenches. In these cost estimates we can help develop production estimates and assumptions that may illuminate data gaps that can be filled before the construction begins to minimize project risks. We have also developed cost estimates that have been used in litigation support.

Soil Mixing

Geo-Solutions has been a member of numerous successful bid teams. A recent assignment was on the winning team for a major contract of the Boston Central Artery Project that involved a large amount of soil mixing. Geo-Solutions helped prepare the estimate and proposal that won a recent major Superfund site closure in Denver.

Knowledge of the Newest Technologies

Detailed cost estimated developed for engineers and owners are often used to develop reasonable project budgets. On a recent project the engineer had used information from previous projects to develop an estimate of project costs. Geo-Solutions was aware of a new technology that significantly improved production and reduced costs. Using our cost estimate, the owner was able to proceed with the project with the knowledge that his budget would be adequate.
