The Tempe Landfill construction project consisted of the installation of a soil-bentonite cutoff wall at a municipal landfill. The cutoff wall was installed as part of the landfill leachate management system, eliminating the lateral migration of leachate from the landfill through high permeable sand zones. The cutoff wall was 3,000 feet long, 1 meter wide, and had a maximum depth of 56 feet. The total square footage was 140,000 square feet. The trench was excavated with a Komatsu PC 750LC equipped with Geo-Solutions extended stick attachment and slurry trenching bucket.
