The Marysville, CA construction project consisted of the installation of a soil-bentonite cut-off wall. The cut-off wall was installed to create a permanent, continuous, homogeneous, low-permeability barrier to groundwater flow through the existing shallow foundation soils along the alignment of the new Bear River Setback Levee. The cutoff wall was 9380 feet long, 3 feet wide, and had a maximum depth of 63 feet. The total square footage was 428,000 square feet. The trench was excavated with a Komatsu PC 1100LC equipped with Geo-Solutions extended stick attachment and slurry trenching bucket.
