The Bio-Polymer trench (BP Trench) technique offers clients a more cost-effective and safer installation method for collecting groundwater, contaminants or underground gas. It is an established construction practice for installing deep collection trenches in difficult conditions when conventional open cut methods are not possible. BP Trenches/Drains are constructed using the slurry trench technique and a bio-degradable carbohydrate based slurry in place of a bentonite slurry.
In this technique, as the trench is excavated, bio-polymer slurry is added to the trench to support and maintain a stable trench. As the excavation advances, liners, pipe, temporary wells, and drainage media/backfill are placed in the trench displacing the slurry. Once the excavation and backfill are complete, the remaining slurry will be degraded (broken) to clean water and the drainage media will be developed by recirculation of water within the trench.
Geo-Solutions has years of experience with this installation procedure and has completed numerous projects. Geo-Solutions implements long established and proven standard operating procedures and quality control procedures to ensure an efficient and quality installation.
